May Villa School Community Care School in County Cumberland opened in February 1920. The school closed in December 1976. (1)
A Community Care School is type of School for Specific Purposes (ssp). It is a school conducted within government premises set aside for children committed to government care for long or short periods, and for a variety of reasons. Control of these schools, previously exercised sometimes by the Department of Education and sometimes by the department handling child welfare. (2)
