Full description
Horton River Upper Provisional School in county Murchinson opened in October 1883. The school changed its classification to a half-time school in 1894 and in 1900 it changed again to become a public school. In 1901 the school changed its name to Horton Upper Public School. It closed in December 1988. (1)
At the time of the school's creation as a provisional school it required a minimum of 12 students for the establishment of the school. The minimum number of students for a classification of a public school in 1900 was 20 students. (2)
Horton River Upper Half-time School was partnered with Etherfield Half-time School. (3)
