The Major Crime Squad in the South Region appears to have been established by mid 1993. (1)

In July 1997, a major restructure of the Police Service resulted in the expansion of four Regions into eleven. Therefore the South Region and its associated commands such as the Major Crime Squad appear to have been abolished. (2)
