The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) had been established in 1989, in order to suppress the activities of middle to upper level drug traffickers and to decrease the availability of illicit drugs. The structure of the Drug Enforcement Agency included the Support Unit. (1)The main function of the Support Unit, was to target middle level dealers and also to assist other units within the Drug Enforcement Agency such as the task forces, and Plantation Unit. The Support Unit also assisted Regional Drug Squads. (2)
The Drug Enforcement Agency, and all its branches such as the Support Unit, appears to have been abolished some time after 1999.
