Full description

The Photographic and Heliographic Branch of the Department of Public Works was headed by the professional photographer John Degotardi, Jr., who had previously been part of the Government Architect's Branch. The Branch's staff comprised one photographer (Degotardi), one heliographer and plan mounter (Alfred Ernest Burton) and three assistants to the heliographer and plan mounter. (1)

In 1901 the Branch ceased to be listed separately and the photographer, the heliographer and plan mounter and his assistants were all listed as miscellaneous staff. (2)
