Full description

The [Poultry] Review Committee was established under section 31 of the Egg Industry Stabilisation Act of 1971 (No.74, 1971). (1) Under section 33 of the Act, the Committee consisted of one person appointed by the Minister as Chairman, and two persons representing egg producers. On 4 April 1971, Norman Kenneth Golding was appointed Chairman and Lloyd Wilkins and Leonard Hart were appointed members representing egg producers. The Committee’s first meeting was held on 31 July 1973 and and also present because of their experience in poultry industry matters were G. Slennett and J. Elson from the Department of Agriculture and A. Whiting from the Egg Marketing Board. (2) Under section 31(3) of the Egg Industry Stabilisation Act of 1971, the Committee was subject to the control and direction of the Minister in the exercise and discharge of its powers, authorities, duties and functions.(3) The function of the Review Committee was to hear appeals from egg producers who were dissatisfied with the hen quotas allocated them by the Licensing Committee and who were seeking increases. (4) Under section 32 of the Egg Industry Stabilisation Act (No.74, 1971) the Minister could dissolve the Review Committee by publishing such a notification in the New South Wales Government Gazette. At the final meeting of the Review Committee on 26 February 1974, the Executive Officer informed Committee members that the Minister for Agriculture had signed the Decree of Dissolution of the Review Committee effective from 1 March 1974.
