The Special Projects Section of the Government Architect was responsible for a range of projects including the design of a new Parliament House, which involved the construction of new buildings while retaining the historical facade fronting Macquarie Street. (1) Other projects included development plans, renovations, and restoration works for Education Department and Technical College buildings, Hyde Park Barracks, the Supreme Court, the Sydney Art Gallery, the Australian Museum, the National Trust Centre, the National Herbarium at the Botanical Gardens, Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority projects, redevelopments associated with the Zoological Parks Board, and plans for additional facilities at the Sydney Opera House.
