Full description

The Electoral Districts Commission was appointed 4 August 1911 under the provisions of the Parliamentary Electorates and Elections Act 1902, the Women’s Franchise Act 1902, the Electorates Redistribution Act 1904, the Parliamentary Elections Act 1906, and the Parliamentary Elections (Second Ballot) Act 1910 (1).

The Governor appointed the following three men as Electoral Districts Commissioners:

• Walter Edmunds, a District Court Judge and Chairman of Quarter Sessions
• Frederick Albert Coghlan, Under Secretary, Chief Secretary’s Department, and
• John Burt Trivett, Government Statistician and Registrar and Actuary of Friendly Societies and Trade Unions. (2)

The State of New South Wales was divided into ninety Electoral Districts. The final report containing the electoral divisions was submitted 10 May 1912. (3)
