Full description

Wickham Girls’ High School originated as the Domestic Science department of Wickham Public School (Agency 4897). It was made a separate school in 1962, and, as the larger component of the Public School, continued in occupation of the old school buildings in Hannell Street, Wickham, while the rump Public School relocated to new premises nearby. The new High School offered classes in Forms One to Four.

The Girls’ High School operated until the end of 1976, (1) at which time the pupils joined those of the former Newcastle Boys’ High School at the newly-established Waratah High School. (2)
