Full description
Walleroobie Provisional School [II] in the County of Bourke opened in September 1953. (1) Provisional Schools were opened in areas of smaller populations where insufficient children attended to justify the opening of a full public school. By 1953 ten students were required to maintain a provisional school. Usually the Department of Public Instruction supplied the teacher, books and other teaching materials and the parents provided the premises for the School.The School was converted into a public school in July 1957 when the classification 'Provisional School" was discontinued and the remaining provisional schools with a pupil population of at least nine were converted into public schools.
Walleroobie Public School closed in September 1969. (2)
