The Queanbeyan Court of General and Quarter Sessions was established by proclamation in the Government Gazette with its first date of hearings apparently 26 November. 1862 (1). Courts of General and Quarter Sessions were administered within a system of Districts. The Queanbeyan Court of General and Quarter Sessions was initially placed in the Southern [I] District where it remained until it was abolished in 1897 (2). The role of the Court of Quarter Sessions was to hear less serious criminal cases. The dates of hearings at the Queanbeyan Court were proclaimed in the NSW Government Gazette.
