Full description

Carabost Provisional School opened in January 1917. Provisional Schools were established in areas where the school population was insufficient to support a full public school. When the Carabost Provisional School was established 10 children were required for the ciommencment of a Provisional School.

In 1957 the classification 'provisonal school' was abolished and the remaining schools were converted to Public Schools. The Carabost Public School was declared in November 1957 and closed in May 1971.

Note
Prior to the establishment of the Carabost Provisional School there had been a Half-Time School at Carabost from 1905 -1911.
