The Nowra Court of General and Quarter Sessions was established by 21 November, 1862 (1). The role of the Court of Quarter Sessions was to hear less serious criminal cases. The dates of hearings at the Nowra Court were proclaimed in the NSW Government Gazette. Courts of General and Quarter Sessions were administered within a system of Districts. The Nowra Court was initially placed in the Metropolitan and Coast District where it remained until 1870. The Court was transferred to the Southern District [I] in 1871 and remained there until 1881 when it appears to have lapsed. Endnotes:(1) NSW Government Gazette 21 November 1862 p.2340
