The Liverpool Court of General and Quarter Sessions was established on 1 November 1861(1). The role of the Court of Quarter Sessions was to hear less serious criminal cases. The dates of hearings at the Liverpool Court were proclaimed in the NSW Government Gazette. The Courts of General and Quarter Sessions were arranged into districts. The Liverpool Court was located in the Metroplitan and Coastal District until 1865 when it was transferred to the Southern District from 1866 until 1870.
