The responsibility for designing school buildings returned to a newly-established Architect's Branch within the Department of Education by 1913 with the first appointment listed as July 1912. (1) In 1931 the Architects Branch staff list included draftsmen, inspector of painters and repairers work, clerk of works, and furniture (2), but was not found listed as a Branch after this. By 1951 the branch was succeeded by a Properties Division which was composed of a building branch which included painting and repair staff, furniture workshops, sites branch, stores branch, and school gardening staff. (3) The responsibility appears to have remained here until the creation of the Properties Division in 1951.
