In 1951 a Properties Division was established, and was composed of a building branch, sites branch, stores branch, painting and repair staff, furniture workshops, and school gardening staff.(1)
In 1970 the central administration of the Department was revised, with the Properties Division continuing to be responsible for the aquisition of sites, determination and oversight of the school building program, maintenance and repairs to schools, stores and equipment.(2)
In 1973 the administrative structure was again revised and composed of function based Directorates, with the Properties Division becoming the Properties Directorate.(3)
