Full description
Swansea Police Station [II] opened in April 1948 with Constable G. E. Godfrey of West Wallsend as officer-in-charge. The area had previously been policed from Belmont. (1) A police station had previously operated at Swansea from 1889 and had temporarily been closed during World War II. (2)
A new Police Station building and residence were completed in 1954. (3)
Swansea Police Station was located in the Lake Macquarie Local Area Command within the Northern Region. (4)
As of 2009 Swansea Police Station had been closed. (5)
In 2014 the former Swansea Police Station was temporarily in use by the Lake Macquarie Local Area Command while the Belmont Police Station was being rebuilt. (6)
