Marrar Public School, in the County of Bourke, opened in February 1909. (1) Public Schools were basic elementary schools in the New South Wales education system. In 1909 a school population of twenty students was required to establish and maintain a public school.In 2005 the school was described as follows
"Marrar Public School is a two teacher school in a small village of 200 residents situated 40 kilometres north of Wagga in the Riverina. The school is an integral part of the community and enjoys widespread support." The school was then situated in Centenary Drive, Marrar 2652. (1)
