The Wollongong District Court [I] was established by 26 March 1859 when Alfred A. Turner was appointed Registrar (1) The Court was originally placed in the Metropolitan and Coast Division. The District Court exercised Civil jurisdiction. In July 1973 it was reconstituted to assume the criminal jurisdiction that had previously belonged to the Courts of Quarter Sessions.End notes
