The Walgett District Court [I] was established by 1878. Vincent Brown J.P. was appointed Registrar on 1 July 1883 (1) . The Court was originally in the North-Western and Eastern District but administratively it moved between Districts several times. It appears that no hearings were conducted at Walgett between the years 1918 and 1921. The Court exercised civil jurisdiction. It was reconstituted in July 1973 when the District Courts acquired the criminal jurisdiction previously exercised by the Courts of Quarter Sessions.End Notes
