The Sydney District Court was established by 1 February 1859 when Alexander C. Maxwell was appointed Registrar (1) The Court exercised Civil Jurisdiction only. In July 1973 the Court was reconstituted to acquire a Criminal in addition to its existing Civil Jurisdiction.Endnotes
