The West Maitland District Court [I] was established by 1 February 1859 when Augustus Carter was appointed Registrar. It appears that the West and East Maitland District Courts operated jointly. They were staffed by the same registrar who was appointed on the same day an presumably met at the required location. The West Maitland appears to have discontinued in 1866 and the business is most likely to have proceeded to the Maitland District Court [I].Endnote
