The Bega District Court [I] was establsiged by 1 January 1870 when John Davis was appointed Registrar (1) The Court exercised a civil jurisdiction only.The Bega District Court was situated in the Southern District [I] until 1903 when it moved to the Southern and Hunter District. In 1955 it transferred to the newly created Southern District [II] where it remained until the reconstitution of the District Court to include a Criminal as well as a Civil Jurisdiction on 1 July 1973.
