Full description

Alberton Court of Petty Sessions in the District of Port Phillip was established on 8 May 1844 under the provisions of the Offenders Punishment and Justices Summary Jurisdiction Act of 1832 (3 Wil.IV No.3). (1)

Responsibility for the District of Port Phillip transferred from the Colony of New South Wales to the Colony of Victoria from 1 July 1851. (2) The court continued until at least 1852. (3)
