Full description

Hurstville Public School was established in the County of Cumberland in October 1876. (1) A Public School in 1876 required a minimum attendance of 25 pupils. (2)

From April 1892 to December 1912 the school operated as a Superior Public School, providing both primary and post-primary education. From 1913 it included a Home Science School which provided home science and commercial training for girls as well as a Junior Technical School providing post-primary technical training for boys to enter a skilled trade, as well as the primary education course. In January 1936 the school reverted to the status of a Public School. The school remained open in 2014. (4)
