Full description
Wang Wauk Provisional School [II] in the county of Gloucester opened in January, 1952. (1) Provisional Schools were established in areas where the school population was insufficient to support a public school. When Wang Wauk Provisional School was established an attendance of at least nine children was required to maintain the school. By the time of its closure the Wang Wauk School had been re-classified as a public school, but it is unknown when this transition occurred. Public Schools were basic elementary schools in the New South Wales education system. By 1952 an attendance of twenty children was required. In 1957 the number of pupils was reduced to nine. Wang Wauk Public School [II] closed in December, 1959. Endnotes(1) Wang Wauk Observation Book (NRS 17118 [B8509]), passim.
