In January 1836 the school at Myall Upper in the County of Gloucester was re-established as a Half-Time School operating jointly with Warra Half-Time School (known as Kyle from April 1936). Half-Time Schools were elementary schools that catered for children in areas of scattered population. One teacher visited two half-time Schools. When the Myall Upper Half-Time School opened no fixed number of students was prescribed. On 16 September 1938 Myall Upper was converted to a Provisional School.(1) Provisional Schools were established in areas where at least ten children, but fewer than the twenty required for a Public School, could be expected to attend. The Department paid the teacher and supplied the books and equipment. Parents often met most of the cost of both buildings and furniture although there were provisions for the Department of Education to provide all or part of the cost of buildings. From January 1954 Myall Upper became a Public School. Public Schools are basic elementary schools in the New South Wales education system. By 1954 the attendance of twenty children was required to establish a school of this classification. Myall Upper Public School closed in December 1964. Endnotes:
