Leighton Park Half-Time School, in the county of Brisbane was established in October 1906. The School shared a teacher with Pages River Half-Time School. Half-Time Schools emerged to cater for children in areas of scattered population. Until 1908 the attendance of at least sixteen children was required, in two groups of eight or more. After 1908 no fixed number of children was required. In April 1912 the School was converted to a Public School. Public Schools are basic elementary schools in the New South Wales education system. From 1880-1957, the attendance of twenty children was required to establish a Public School; and from 1957 the minimum figure was reduced to nine. In June 1936 the School was re-named Segenhoe Public School. Segenhoe Public School was closed on 4 October 1974.
