Full description

Giants Creek Public School in the county of Brisbane was established in April 1877. Public Schools are basic elementary schools in the New South Wales education system. When the Giants Creek School was established an attendance of twenty-five children was required. The number of pupils necessary for a school of this classification was reduced to twenty in 1880 and nine in 1957. At the beginning of 1970 Giants Creek Public School was relocated to a new site on the Merriwa-Muswellbrook road, a mile and a half from its original location, and renamed Sandy Hollow Public School. The new facilities were officially opened by Mr R.C.A. Wotton, MLA, on the 25th July of that year.(1) In 2004 Sandy Hollow Public School was located at Merriwa-Muswellbrook Road, Sandy Hollow, in the district of Hunter/Central Coast (1). Endnotes
