Full description

Temora Police Station in the Southern Division was established on or about 23 September 1880. On this date the limits of the town were defined and the town was proclaimed to come under the Police act. The Act aimed at preventing certain nuisance behaviours and promoting good order and safety by declaring as offences obstructions in public places, enforcing building standards and aligning the streets. (1) The commencement of the station was reported in the Police Department Annual report for 1880 dated 27 January 1881. (2) In his report the Inspector General of Police observed "The new gold-fields at Temora and Bermagui created a demand for police, and there are many other places where protection is urgently required." (3) Initially the mounted staff consisted of an Acting Sub-Inspector, a senior constable and two constables, and the staff on foot comprised a senior constable and seven constables. (4)

A new building for the police station at Temora was built during 1909 (5)
