The inaugural meeting of the Finance and Management Committee of the Goulburn Teachers College (GTC) was convened on 12 September 1973. (1) The Committee, as a Committee of Council, reported directly to the governing body of the College, the Interim Council (later the Council). The initial challenges facing the Finance and Management Committee were the proposed budget allocations and setting up adequate banking arrangements. (2) The need for long-term planning and consideration of areas such as courses of study, capital works programmes particularly student residences, student numbers and equipment was also a priority, in order that adequate recurrent cost estimates could be formulated. (3) The final meeting of the Finance and Management Committee was held on 10 April 1975, after which the Committee was disbanded and replaced by the new Finance and Properties Management Committee.
