Full description
Billimari Provisional School in the County of Bathurst was established in July 1890. Provisional schools were established in areas of sparse population where there were insufficient pupils to justify a public school. By 1890 a minimum attendance of 12 pupils was required to maintain a school of this type. In July 1893 the School was converted to a public school indicating that the school population had increased to the 20 pupils necessary for the classification of a public school. Billimari Public School closed in May 1910. (1)
Two later schools in the area were Billimari (Siding) Public School (1912-1983), and Maribilli Provisional School (1913-1929). (2)
