Darlinghurst Brigade was formed with permanent staff on 1 May 1896 at 250 Victoria Street and was Brigade Number 4.(1) The Brigade consisted of a detachment of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade with a hose carriage and other suitable equipment. Telephone fire alarms were run from the station as far as Darling Point and Potts Point.(2) A Government architect station on the corner of Darlinghurst Road and Victoria Street opened on 22 January 1912 and this continued to be the site of the Darlinghurst station in the year 2000.(3) ENDNOTES1.
