The inaugural meeting of the Research Committee of the Riverina-Murray Institute of Higher Education (RMIHE) was convened on 2 December 1986. (1) The Committee reported to the Academic Board, the principal academic body of the Institute. The membership of the Committee comprised of the Senior Deputy Principal, four members of the Academic Board, and the Presiding Officer of the Ethics Committee. (2) The terms of reference for the RMIHE Research Committee, approved by the Academic Board, were:
- to promote research and scholarship within the Institute;
- to prepare the annual research program to be funded by the Institute;
- to prepare for the Institute’s annual budget a submission in respect of research activities to be funded by the Institute;
- to administer funds allocated for research activities funded from the Institute’s budget;
- determine the parameters for liaison with external bodies involved in research or research funding; and
- recommend to the Principal the allocation of funds available for research. (3)
The final meeting of the RMIHE Research Committee was held on the 9 June 1989, shortly before the Charles Sturt University Act, 1989 was enacted. (4) The Committee was then disbanded, and replaced in 1990 with the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Interim Research Management Committee. Endnotes:
