The establishment of the Interim Orana Advisory Committee was approved by the governing body of Charles Sturt University (CSU), the Board of Governors, with resolution BG96/9. (1) As such the Committee reported directly to the Board of Governors (later the Council). The inaugural meeting of the Interim Orana Advisory Committee took place on 10 April 1996. (2) At the Committee's third meeting held on 15 July 1996, the name of the Committee was changed to the ‘Advisory Committee for the Dubbo Campus’. (3) The membership of the Committee comprised of both community members and ex-officio members of the University. (4) The terms of reference for the CSU Advisory Committee for the Dubbo Campus included the following matters:- the physical development of the campus;
- relationships with local communities;
- student matters including;
i. sporting and recreational facilities;
ii. counselling services (medical, psychological, career and remedial education);
iii. support and welfare of Aboriginal students, overseas students and students from isolated and ethnic communities;
iv. chaplaincy;
v. residential accommodation, including tutorial support, academic and social environments of the residences, and the adequacy of residential facilities generally;
- University foundations; and
- any matter referred to the Committee by the Board of Governors, the Vice-Chancellor or the Principal of the member campus. (5)
