The Murray Advisory Council of Charles Sturt University (CSU) reported directly to the governing body of the University, the Board of Governors (later the Council). The membership of the Murray Advisory Council comprised of the following members:- Head of Campus;
- two elected members of the academic staff, one of whom is from the professoriate and the other from staff below the level of associate professor;
- one elected member of the general staff of the University;
- two students nominated by the student association, one of whom is enrolled in a higher degree program, and the other in an undergraduate award;
- eight members of the community nominated by the Head of Campus, who are neither staff nor students of the University; and
- one member of the Council, who is neither a staff nor student member. This member will concurrently hold the position of Presiding Officer of the Committee. (1)
The terms of reference for the Murray Advisory Council were to advise the Council generally on matters relating to the Campus including;
- the physical development of the campus;
- relationships with the local community;
- student welfare including sporting and recreational facilities, counselling services (medical, psychological, career and remedial education), support and welfare of Aboriginal students, overseas students and students from isolated and ethnic communities, chaplaincy and residential accommodation including tutorial support, the academic and social environments of the residences, and the adequacy of residential facilities generally; and
- University foundations. (2)
