Caergurle Provisional School in the county of Durham was established in February 1869. A provisional school was one which served a population of between 15 and 25 students. The school became a public school in September 1879 (1) A public school is an elementary school offering courses at a primary level to a student body of 25 or more. (2) In December 1908 the name of the school changed to Allynbrook Public school. Allynbrook Public School closed in December 1971. (3)
