The provisions of the Fire Brigades Act, 1884 were extended to cover the Municipality of St Mary's on 12 October 1945 which established a municipal fire brigade in addition to the existing bush fire brigade.(1) The construction of a fire station appears to have commenced soon after this with a quote submitted to St Mary's Council in 1946.(2)
