Rouchel Vale Provisional School in the County of Durham was established in July 1880. A provisional school was one which served a small school population in which the parents supplied the premises and the Department of Public Instruction provided the teacher, books and teaching materials. In June 1895 the school was reduced to half-time status sharing a teacher with Fernlawn Half-Time School until December 1898. From the commencement of the school year in 1899 the school returned to provisional status and was re-named Segenhoe (1) Provisional School. . In December 1905 the school was converted into a public school and was known as Segenhoe (1) Public School until December 1923 when it was re-named Dangarfield Public School. Dangarfield Public School closed in April 1956. Reference
