Coffs Harbour District School was established in County Fitzroy in January 1928. (1) District Schools were established in country areas and contained both primary and secondary departments. (2)
In January 1930 the school was converted to an intermediate high school, Coffs Harbour Intermediate High School, operating in this capacity until its closure in December 1938. (3) Intermediate High Schools contained both primary and secondary departments, and offered an academic course of instruction to Intermediate Certificate standard. (4)
