Codrington Provisional School [III] was established in the Counties of Richmond and Rous in January 1881. (1) Provisional Schools were established in areas where at least 15 children were required to attend. (2)

In October 1881 the School was converted to a public school, and continued to operate in this capacity until its closure in July 1884. (3) A Public School offers basic elementary education at a primary school level. (4)

This school was preceded by two earlier provisional schools from 1872 to 1873 and from 1877 to 1878. (5)
