The Berrigan Provisional School in the county of Denison was established in December 1891 Provisional Schools operated in areas of sparce population. Teachers and teaching materials were supplied by the Department of Education, but the building and furniture were the responsibility of the parents. The School was converted to a Public School in April 1894 this enabled it to offer the basic elementary course at primary school level. Note: A Provisional (later public) school had been conducted at Berrigan form January 1884. This school was re-named Lalalty in April 1890. Reference
