The provisions of the Fire Brigades Act, 1884 were extended to cover the Municipal District of Liverpool on 24 July 1896 (1). The Liverpool Fire Station was formed in 1897 as Liverpool Volunteer Fire Company (2). The station, which was owned by the volunteers, was situated in Macquarie Street. In 1903 Liverpool became known as No.23 Station with partially-paid staff (3). A new station was opened in Scott Street on 18 March, 1908 (4). The first permanent staff were appointed soon after 1910. In 1959 Liverpool became No.8 Station. New premises in Terminus Street were opened in 1961 (5). In 2000 the station address was 70 Terminus Street, Liverpool (6).
