Full description

The Interlocking and Signal Branch was responsible for the construction, maintenance and repair of signalling equipment throughout the New South Wales rail network. Work was also carried out on level crossings. Interlocking referred to the mechanical process of resetting railway tracks allowing locomotives to follow branch lines, pass through junction points, or detour onto spur lines.
