The Passenger Operations Branch was responsible for all passenger services including - new timetables, station and passenger facilities, on-time running, carriage cleaning and personation, rostering of suburban engineman and guards, interurban trains, country trains, XPT services, Road Coaches, Rail Travel Centres, and tours. Under the Transport Administration Act (No.109, 1988), on the 16 January 1989, the State Rail Authority was reconstituted and continued to operate the railway services provided, prior to this Act. This date also marked a major administrative re-organisation with the creation of new railway divisions with Passenger Operations being split into CityRail and Countrylink.User Contributed Tags
