The Freight Operations Branch was responsible for all freight cargo services including coal (both domestic and export), cement and limestone, concentrates and ores, wheat, grains, cotton, fruit and vegetables, milk, general, bulk, iron and steel, petroleum, paper products, superfreighters, small freight, plus the Chullora Trackfast Centre. Under the Transport Administration Act (No.109, 1988), on the 16 January 1989, the State Rail Authority was reconstituted and continued to operate the railway services provided, prior to this Act. This date also marked a major administrative re-organisation with the creation of new railway divisions with Freight Operations becoming Freight Rail.User Contributed Tags
