Full description
Belmont Court of Petty Sessions, within the Police District of Newcastle, was established on 1 June 1936 under the provisions of s.5 of the Justices Act, 1902 (Act No.27, 1902). (1)
The records of the Charlestown Court of Petty Sessions and the Catherine Hill Bay Court of Petty Sessions were transferred to the Belmont Court of Petty Sessions on 1 June 1936 when the Charlestown Court of Petty Sessions and the Catherine Hill Bay Court of Petty Sessions were abolished. (2)
The Belmont Court of Petty Sessions was abolished on 31 December 1984, when the Local Courts Act 1982 abolished all Courts of Petty Sessions and replaced these with Local Courts. (3)
