Full description

A court of petty sessions had previously been conducted at Bateman's Bay from 30 April 1877 until 3 May 1895.

Bateman's Bay Court of Petty Sessions [II] within the Moruya Police District was re-established on 27 March 1896 under s.459 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 1883 (46 Vic. No.17). (1)

The records of the Nelligen Court of Petty Sessions were transferred to the Bateman's Bay Court of Petty Sessions [II] on 1 July 1936 when the Nelligen Court of Petty Sessions was abolished. (2)

Bateman's Bay Court of Petty Sessions [II] was abolished on 31 December 1984 when the Local Courts Act 1982 abolished all Courts of Petty Sessions and replaced these with Local Courts. (3)
