This series consists of volumes outlining the admission and discharge of patients at Fairfield Hospital, previously known as the Queen's Memorial Infectious Diseases Hospital (VA 1231).

Details recorded typically include:
- patient's name
- date of admission
- admission number
- address
- nationality
- occupation
- disease
- result (discharge or death)
- date of discharge.

From 1948, the registers also record general surgical and medical admissions due to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (amendment) Act No. 5240, which proclaimed in 1947 that Fairfield Hospital would allow the accommodation of general medical and surgical cases.
