It shows the presence of, type of, and average depth to acid sulfate soil layers in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. The dataset can also be used to display a hazard rating. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map. This mapping is at a nominal scale of 1:50,000 and is restricted to coastal areas. However, the effective scale of each map polygon varies based on the number of soil description sites within it. This map may be used for strategic land use planning. It is also appropriate for a very general preliminary assessment of acid sulfate hazard at property scale. However, it is not sufficiently detailed for intensive development planning.Acid sulfate soils mapping stylefiles - This data package contains several stylefiles designed to present Queensland's acid sulfate soils mapping in a visually consistent manner across different software environments. Acid sulfate soils of the Maryborough area of South East Queensland - MAC - This dataset comprises general soils mapping for the Maryborough area in the Burnett-Mary, South East Queensland, reinterpreted for acid sulfate soils hazard. The mapping covers parts of the Boonooroo, Howard, Maryborough and Pialba 1: 50,000 map sheets (9446-1, 9447-3, 9446-4, 9447-2) and was completed in 2002. The mapping is at a scale of 1: 50,000 and while not equivalent to an Acid Sulfate Soils Map, the data is intended to be used in a similar fashion until it is replaced with a map based on the standard sampling protocols for acid sulfate soils mapping in Queensland. Since this coverage comprises reinterpreted historical soils data, the extent of the ASS depicted is likely an underestimate. In addition, no acid sulfate soil borehole descriptions or laboratory data exist for this area, and no report accompanies the map. This map may be used for strategic land use planning. It is also appropriate for a very general preliminary assessment of acid sulfate hazard at property scale. However, it is not sufficiently detailed for intensive development planning.
Acid sulfate soils of the Narrows area of Central Queensland - CQAN - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for The Narrows area, near Gladstone. It shows the presence of, type of, and average depth to acid sulfate soil layers in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map. This mapping is at a nominal scale of 1:50,000 and is restricted to coastal areas below 5m AHD. However, the effective scale of each map polygon varies based on the number of soil description sites within it. This map may be used for strategic land use planning. It is also appropriate for a very general preliminary assessment of acid sulfate hazard at property scale. However, it is not sufficiently detailed for intensive development planning.
Acid sulfate soils of the Pine Rivers area of South East Queensland - MAS - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for the Pine Rivers area of South East Queensland. The mapping covers parts of the Brisbane, Redcliffe and Samford 1: 50,000 map sheets (9543-3, 9543-4, 9443-2) and was completed in 2011. It shows the presence of, type of, and average depth to acid sulfate soil layers in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map. This mapping is at a nominal scale of 1:25,000 and is restricted to coastal areas. However, the effective scale of each map polygon varies based on the number of soil description sites within it. This map may be used for strategic land use planning. It is also appropriate for a very general preliminary assessment of acid sulfate hazard at property scale. However, it is not sufficiently detailed for intensive development planning.
Acid sulfate soils of the Sarina area of North Queensland - MWQS - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for the Sarina area of North Queensland, from Hay Point to Armstrong Beach. It shows the presence of, type of, and average depth to acid sulfate soil layers in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map. This mapping is at a nominal scale of 1:25,000 and is restricted to coastal areas below 5m AHD. However, the effective scale of each map polygon varies based on the number of soil description sites within it. This map may be used for strategic land use planning. It is also appropriate for a very general preliminary assessment of acid sulfate hazard at property scale. However, it is not sufficiently detailed for intensive development planning.
Acid sulfate soils of the Yeppoon area of Central Queensland - YAS - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for the Yeppoon area of Central Queensland. It shows the presence of, type of, and average depth to acid sulfate soil layers in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map.
Acid sulfate soils - Tweed Heads to Nerang River - South East Queensland - SEAN - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for the Tweed Heads to Nerang River area of South East Queensland.
Acid sulfate soils - Tweed Heads to Teewah - South-East Queensland - SEA - This dataset is an acid sulfate soils map for the Tweed Heads to Teewah area of South East Queensland. It shows the presence or absence of acid sulfate soils in polygons interpreted as relatively homogenous acid sulfate environments. A combination of soils description, laboratory testing, elevation and geology data, and API (airphoto interpretation) was used to construct the map. This mapping is at a nominal scale of 1:100,000 and is restricted to coastal areas below 5m AHD. This map may be used for broadscale land use planning. It is not suitable for local-scale or property-scale planning.
